It’s summer! It’s reading time.
No matter the weather. If it’s sunny, reading outside in a hammock or on the beach is great. If it’s not then a book can distract you from the downpour outside.
To help you enjoy this summer I like to share with you my latest book discoveries.
It’s always better to have too much to read than not enough.
The following books have recently made a big impression on me.
Let’s start with: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus*. If you haven’t read it yet you are in for a special treat. The story of Elizabeth Zott kept me entertained, made me laugh out loud and moved me deeply. Her way to conquer the scientific world in the early 1960s and her approach to rowing are just some of many scenes which will keep you tied to the book.
Deutsche Übersetzung: Eine Frage der Chemie*
If you are into hiking and you love being in the mountains The Eight Mountains by Paolo Cognetti* will take your breath away. I was fascinated by the way Paolo Cognetti is describing the rough nature of the Italian Alps and their inhabitants. I felt I had the privilege to observe Pietro in his different phases of his life. I walked with him and his father in the mountains. I built a cabin with Pietro and his friend Bruno. It’s a story about friendship, nature, coming of age and the search for your true self.
Deutsche Übersetzung: Acht Berge*
Another book which touched me deeply was When Breath Becomes Air: What makes life worth living in the face of death? by Paul Kalanithi*. It’s a difficult subject but the author finds meaningful descriptions in the face of his own death. It’s a memoir which gives hope. It moved me to tears in a good way.
Deutsche Übersetzung: Bevor ich jetzt gehe: Die letzten Worte eines Arztes an seine Tochter*
Currently I am reading on my Kindle app:
- Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone (Outlander 9) by Diana Gabaldon* (fab to have this 900 pages book on kindle. Even with all my Feldenkrais experience I think I would struggle to get comfortable while reading)
[dt. Übersetzung: Die Outlander-Saga*] - Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things by Adam Grant*
[dt. Übersetzung: Hidden Potential – Die Wissenschaft des Erfolgs: Wie man über sich hinauswächst*] - and many more.
Which book are you reading? What are the books which made an impression on you?
I am curious. Send me an email (info@movingexperience.eu) and tell me. I’m looking forward to your book recommendations. By the way Email is THE WAY to communicate with me.
